Relive the best of the International Conference on Marine Science 2023: working today for the ocean of tomorrow

The ICMS is always a highlight of the CEMarin calendar and, in this third edition of the conference, we were delighted to meet in person with over 100 participants from institutions in 15 countries in Cartagena, from the 21st-23rd February 2023.

We are pleased to share the Book of AbstractsPhoto Gallery, and the complete panel on the Challenges and Opportunities of International Cooperation.

Below, you can enjoy the Highlights of the ICMS 2023.

Those who attended in person were able to enjoy 7 keynote talks by renowned international experts, 30 regular talks and the presentation of 14 posters on diverse aspects of the marine sciences, organized around CEMarin’s three main lines of research:

  • Marine environmental change
  • The sustainable use and protection of marine resources
  • The interactions between ocean and society.

In addition, we wish to highlight the participation of stakeholders and representatives from Colombian public institutions like the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Colombian Ocean Commission and Invemar, as well as private enterprises and startups like Ecopetrol, Nortek, Neowave Energy, National Geographic and Sepia Rov, as well as WWF Colombia.

We express our gratitude to everyone who participated in Cartagena or virtually, and thank everyone for their positive and constructive feedback on the conference. We are already evaluating options for the next ICMS, so we can continue sharing knowledge and developing strategies to work together for the future of the oceans.
