General Assembly

The General Assembly of associates is the highest authority of CEMarin and is composed by all its member universities. In line with the Statutes of the Corporation, the General Assembly is responsible for all matters not expressly allocated to another management body. The General Assembly directs and guides the policies, actions and business of CEMarin, and adopts measures to achieve its objectives. The General Assembly appoints the members of the Board of Directors for one-year periods and approves CEMarin financial statements and budgets.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the general management and administration body of CEMarin, subordinate to the guidelines and policies of the General Assembly. The Board of Directors is composed of three main members. In line with the Statutes of the Corporation, the Board of Directors reports to the General Assembly on the progress of CEMarin activities and on financial statements and budgets. The Board of Directors approves specific regulatory proposals for the proper functioning of CEMarin, establishes working groups, and creates committees responsible for directing and managing CEMarin activities.

Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee is composed of one delegate from each CEMarin member university. The Scientific Committee is responsible for defining CEMarin’s research themes and lines, and for designing, planning and developing its academic and teaching activities, including the International Conference on Marine Science, international field schools, thematic workshops, courses and diplomas. The Scientific Committee discusses and approves the terms of CEMarin’s scientific and academic calls, and selects students to receive scholarships or to participate in the offered courses and workshops. The Scientific Committee reviews, evaluates and selects the research projects that will obtain CEMarin financial or academic support.
